Istanbul Conference 2025: The Ummatic Turn: Research, Method, Futures
The Ummatics Institute is pleased to have hosted a day conference in Istanbul bringing together scholars, thinkers, and strategists to critically engage the intellectual and strategic imperatives of fostering a unified Islamic civilization in a shifting global order.
This year’s conference built on our research agenda—focusing on the concept of Ummatic soft power, political unification, and the methodologies needed to orient research and policy toward Ummatic renewal. We will explore how the Umma can meaningfully respond to emerging multipolar realities, navigate competing world orders, and develop new institutional and civilizational models grounded in Islamic ethics.
Panels included discussions on the global order and ummatic strategy, research methods and conceptual frameworks, and the introduction of Collaboratives of Ummatic Soft Power (CUSPs)—transnational networks intended to cultivate cooperation across fields such as law, education, media, economics, and technology.
The day culminated in a special panel addressing the question: “What does meaningful Ummatic unity look like in a multipolar world?” Experts will assess the opportunities and constraints shaping the Umma’s political and strategic horizon and explore practical steps toward deeper cooperation and autonomy.
We invited researchers, policy experts, graduate students, and institutional partners to join us for a day of critical discussion, intellectual exchange, and collaborative vision-building.
