The Summit
The much-anticipated GEM (Globally Empowered Muslim) summittook place in Qatar in January 2026. More than 330 participants from diverse countries were welcomed into the program.
Seven specialized groups, focusing on areas such as technology, healthcare, education, media, culture and arts are developing long-term roadmaps and identifying high-impact opportunities for Muslim communities and the wider-world. These groups also explored cross-domain possibilities and established an impact framework to prioritize transformative projects with global relevance. The Summit aims not only to design long-term strategies for each domain, but also to launch international networks of leading experts across disciplines. Scholars of Islamic thought are embedded within each of the seven domains to ensure that ethical and spiritual values remain foundational as these efforts engage the modern world.
The summit was divided into two parts. The first two days of the GEM Summit focused on alignment and discovery, building a shared understanding of the Summit’s vision, clarifying what it means to be a GEM, and mapping key challenges and opportunities across Muslim communities and their wider ecosystems. The second two days opened to a broader audience, where roadmaps were shared, and participants were encouraged to connect and collaborate on domain-specific plans in order to identify flagship projects that turn shared purpose into coordinated action. Ummatics looks forward to seeing the transformative initiatives that will emerge from the Summit.
